Sandvik strengthens its focus on oil & gas business

Sandvik Materials Technology has established a new Business Unit Oil & Gas aimed at increasing business growth in the energy sector.

“As part of our commitment we have just opened a new North Sea Sales Office in Aberdeen and will strengthen our teams in Stavanger, Houston, Brazil, Dubai and Singapore, providing increased levels of customer support in these key areas,” explained Nigel Haworth, newly-appointed manager of Business Unit Oil & Gas.

Formation of the new business unit, within the Tube Product Area of Sandvik Materials Technology, brings together production facilities and the sales and marketing functions into one organization. It will provide closer controls over the unit’s capabilities enabling it to develop increased market opportunities in a much more focused manner.

Explained Michael Andersson, Head of the Tube Product Area within Sandvik, “Oil and gas is one of our main strategic growth areas and the importance we place on the development and expansion in this sector is reflected in the formation of this new business unit.”

Sandvik will build on its standing as a leading producer of OCTG materials in corrosion resistant alloys, while enhancing its position in the supply of control tubing for umbilicals and control lines. The future brings with it growing demand for corrosion resistant alloys and the Sandvik range of duplex and higher nickel austenitic alloys are perfectly placed to meet these demands.
