Sandvik partners in EU project Inspirewater

Sandvik has recently participated in the EU project Inspirewater with the aim of reducing the water and energy consumption in the process industry. The project has been granted a contribution of about EUR 7M and has a special focus on the steel and chemical industries. There are eleven partners participating from six different countries and new solutions will be tested at one of Sandvik’s production plants in Sweden. The Inspirewater project is led by IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute with the objective of reducing water consumption in the steel and chemical industries by 40–80 percent. Business area Sandvik Materials Technology is participating as a pilot for the development of technology for the separation of metals from pickling acid and purification of rinsing water.
