Russian-German gas deal

Russian President Vladimir Putin and German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder say their countries are days away from sealing a mammoth Baltic Sea gas pipeline project aimed at lucrative European markets. Also on the agenda is the Baltic Sea project, worth a potential USD 3 billion dollars, which would allow Russia’s Gazprom to bypass Ukraine and Belarus —; two nations with which it has energy disputes —; to feed hungry European markets. Putin said the deal should be signed “in two or three days” while Schroeder remarked he was “confidentâ€? the agreement would be signed imminently.
