Russia: packaging plants

Alcan Inc. plans to invest USD 55 million in two new plants to produce flexible packaging in Russia. The first plant, near Moscow, will produce flexible packaging for the confectionery and dairy markets. It is described as a USD 25 million initial investment for a greenfield plant and equipment for the printing, laminating, and die-cutting operations. The second plant, near St Petersburg, will produce materials for tobacco packaging. It is detailed as a USD 30 million investment for a plant producing packaging. Both plants will be in operation by 1 May 2006.
