Rolls-Royce wins repeat power order from Indonesia
Rolls-Royce has won a major repeat order for gas turbine power generation equipment from Indonesia. The multi-million pound contract, from an Indonesian independent power production consortium led by P.T. Menamas, is for a second 23,000kW RB211-6562 dual-fuel generating set. P.T. Menamas, which has a long-term contract to sell the electrical power produced by the gas turbines to Indonesia’s state electric utility, PLN, ordered the first RB211 generator set in 2002 and this is in the final stages of installation. The new order includes the supervision of installation and commissioning of the RB211 and a Long Term Service Agreement. Rolls-Royce has demonstrated its power generation capability in the region having already supplied a turnkey power project to PLN for its Samarinda power station on the east coast of Borneo. This 60,000kW power station was commissioned in 1998 and is powered by two RB211 units. The newer plant is located on the nearby East Kalimantan site, a separate facility.
