Rittal introduces 316 stainless steel

Rittal Corporation has developed a harsh environment 316 stainless steel version of its best-selling and flagship product, the TS 8 enclosure. Having sold more than 10M TS 8 units around the globe to date, the TS 8 is currently in use in 92% of the world’s 1,005 branches of industry, housing and protecting electronic equipment utilized for data centres, facility management, industrial automation and power distribution. It is found in market sectors ranging from food/beverage and manufacturing to chemical, medical and wind power. The addition of the 316 stainless steel version of the TS 8 extends the cabinet’s applications to oil and gas and water supply/wastewater management installations.

The UL Type 4X modular enclosure system provides unsurpassed flexibility, strength, durability and scalability in a freestanding enclosure cabinet that can also be connected to other TS 8s for countless configurations. The superior stainless steel 316 alloy gives excellent resistance to high temperatures, common chlorides (such as salt present in seawater), as well as chemicals like sulfuric acid, bromides, iodides, and fatty acids. It is also resistant to stress cracking, pitting, and crevice corrosion.
