Profile manufacturer Purso Oy of Finland has placed an order with Hertwich Engineering, Austria, for the supply and commissioning of a billet homogenising plant. The continuous homogenising line replaces separately operated batch-homogenising and sawing plants. The automated plant requires less operating personnel. Moreover, energy savings of about 20% are achievable. The improved billet homogenising quality ensures more efficient and faster extrusion.
The annual capacity of the new plant is expected to be 20,000 tons of billets with diameters ranging from 203mm to 228mm, which are processed at the in-house extrusion plant. The scope of supply includes a continuous homogenising furnace, cooling station, ultrasonic testing unit as well as sawing and packing equipment.
The commissioning of the new plant is scheduled for April 2014.
