Prudhoe Bay production cut

Freak weather which caused power shortages to lines connected to wells at BP’s Prudhoe Bay fields in Alaska has cut production again. Output from the field has been slashed by 90% from the usual 350,000b/d to 35,000b/d after three days of high winds followed by heavy rain turned dirt accumulated on high voltage insulators into mud which then shorted out, severing power supplies to Prudhoe Bay wells. Warm water sprayed onto the insulators from helicopters was being used to clear the debris from the insulators in a bid to restore power and production at the field.
