Prof. Dr.-Ing. Thomas Böllinghaus from the Bundesanstalt für Materialforschung und -prüfung (BAM) is the new President of the International Institute of Welding (IIW).
Prof. Böllinghaus, who heads the Department of Component Safety at BAM and has conducted intensive research on various aspects of welding technology, wants to achieve an even more intensive connection of research and development with training and teaching in the IIW during his three-year term of office. In addition, he plans to internationalize the IIW on a broader basis, especially in the countries of Africa and South America.
