Process pumps – standard and special

Stroble Pumpen has successfully dispatched four CPP 40-25-250 process pumps manufactured in duplex stainless steel in accordance with API 685. The pumps are characterised by their sealless execution with a magnetic coupling, due to the temperature of medium and their use in an explosion-proof area. The temperature of the can of the magnetic coupling is permanently surveyed by a sensor, to guarantee the best possible security.
A key factor of this order was the use of special screws. For the two pumps that will run in the hotter medium, special screws in an incoloy material were selected. This choice was made to keep handle the combination of a hot medium and cold seawater surroundings, which would result in condensates. In addition, the pumps were passivated on the surface, rather than being painted.
The other two pumps contained screws manufactured from stainless steel. For these pumpu, the temperature difference between the medium and the surroundings is smaller, which leads to a reduced occurrence of condensation. These pumps were also supplied unpainted, as very little risk of corrosion was expected.
The pumps were fitted into the expansion of a natural gas plant on the Norwegian west coast which is run by the Norwegian group Equinor. This project was realised by Stroble Pumpen and its partner Delta-p, together with the engineering office Wood.
