PPFiat invests in thermal electric power facility

By late 2001 part of the electric power used by Fiat do Brasil companies may come from Usina Termeletrica de Ibirite, a partnership between FiatAvio and Petrobras. By December the first gas turbine with a capacity for 155mw will start up. The Ibirite facility, constructed in Belo Horizonte (Minas Gerais) requires a total investment of USD 600 million. The unit will have a total capacity for 705mw. The natural gas which will supply Ibirite will come from Campos Basin (Rio de Janeiro).
