Pöyry wins engineering services contract by EnPro

EnPro has awarded Pöyry with the basic engineering assignment for a soda ash manufacturing plant to be located in Kollsnes, Norway. Pöyry’s scope of work includes basic engineering services for the integral plant operations including integration between individual process packages, definitions of the required utilities and the layout of these systems.

The project itself will utilise EnPro’s technology, developed in cooperation with EnPro’s technology cooperation partner ENGSL Minerals DMCC, to convert industrial CO2 emissions into valuable products, such as sodium carbonate (soda ash) and sodium bicarbonate, in an economical and environmentally friendly manner.

“We are pleased to announce the co-operation with Pöyry in our Kollsnes CO2 capture and utilisation project. Pöyry’s well established reputation in providing high quality engineering solutions will give us an excellent platform to realise this project”, says Christian Theiste, managing director of EnPro. “This project truly demonstrates our vision to engineer solutions that are sustainably balanced. We are proud to develop a project that will be part of the solution to tackle climate change. Naturally, this project is an important reference for Pöyry”, says Tuukka Sormunen, Pöyry’s head of Chemicals & Biorefining in Northern Europe.

The value of the order is not disclosed.
