Positive signals from ACHEMASIA 2001

The fifth ACHEMASIA International Exhibition-Congress on Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology took place in Beijing, China, from 8 to 12 May 2001. The main thrusts of the ACHEMASIA exhibition profile coincide with the priorities set by the Chinese economy.
330 exhibitors from 23 countries and regions presented their products, equipment and new developments in the sectors of chemical equipment and plant engineering (74%), process engineering (45%), pharmaceutical engineering (37%), petrochemistry (34%), food technology (29%), biotechnology (27%), environmental protection technology (26%), laboratory and analytical techniques (24%), agrochemistry (14%), maintenance/quality assurance (9%) and packaging and storage techniques (6%). The event was attended by 22,142 visitors, 16.2 % more than in 1998. A synergy effect was achieved by the partial overlap of ACHEMASIA and the High-Tech Fair, which had several themes in common with the ACHEMASIA exhibition. The vast majority of the exhibitors expressed their complete satisfaction with ACHEMASIA, the professionalism of the visitors and the contacts they made. Decision-makers from Chinese design institutes and conglomerates, such as Sinopec, and numerous executive officers and chief executives of foreign companies attached great importance to the presentation and the networking opportunities at ACHEMASIA.
