Plate dividing shear line for US mill

Tippins has successfully supplied and commissioned a hydraulic Plate Dividing Shear Line for North American Stainless in Ghent, Kentucky, USA. The project consisted of entry and exit tables, a 26-mm hydraulic downcut shear with a maximum cut force of 400 tons, hydraulic equipment and pinch rolls. The order was placed with Tippins on May 24, 2002 and equipment was delivered prior to the six-month contract delivery date. The shear is specifically designed to compliment the existing stainless steel Steckel Mill facility by processing Mother Plates of up to 12.5 meters and daughter plates up to 2 meters. The shear will process stainless steel plate in widths of 900 to 1650 mm and thicknesses of 10.8 to 26 mm. Tippins’s overall scope of supply also included start-up services.The shear line is now in production at the Ghent facility.
