PKM Steel Service to add 20 new jobs

A new major customer is prompting PKM Steel Service to spend USD 250,000 on new equipment and add 20 new jobs this year.

Mr. Mark Hamade is quoted as saying that the new business will not only allow PKM to hire additional workers but also allow the company to continue improvements in research, development, testing, fabricating, design and sophisticated painting.

Hamade said that “We have hiring going on. We have new jobs at PKM Steel Service Inc. We are convinced that nothing we do is more important than hiring and developing people. At the end of the day we are not just betting on strategies we are betting on people from the community and the city of Salina.”

Mr. Dennis Lauver, President and CEO of the Salina Area Chamber of Commerce, said that the chamber and the Kansas Department of Commerce worked with PKM to secure the new customer and stressed that PKM is not receiving any government incentives for the upgrades.
