Malaysia’s Petroliam Nasional Bhd. (Petronas) has formalized a five-year gas sales agreement (GSA) with Sabah Electricity Sdn. Bhd. (SESB) to continue supplying 16 million standard cubic feet of gas per day (MMscfd) to SESB.
Petronas signed the deal with SSEB through its unit Malaysia Petroleum Management (MPM). “This Gas Sales Agreement is a testament to our enduring partnership with SESB and our shared ambition in securing a sustainable energy future for Sabah. Petronas remains committed to supporting Sabah’s industrial development by ensuring a stable and sustainable energy supply, which will be vital in driving the state’s growth”, MPM Senior Vice President Bacho Pilong said in a company statement.
“This agreement is key to meeting the state’s energy demands with reliable and sustainable solutions”, SESB Chief Executive Officer Mohd Yaakob Jaafar added.
Earlier Petronas extended its 46-year partnership with Mitsubishi Corp. through a new agreement to deliver liquefied natural gas (LNG) to international markets, with a primary focus on Japanese customers.
The agreements see Mitsubishi recommitting investment in Malaysia LNG (MLNG) Dua and MLNG Tiga for the next decade.
