Pakistan: Chashma nuclear plant

China Nuclear Industry Huaxing Construction Co. Ltd (CNHXCC) has signed the civil work contract with China Zhongyuan Engineering Corp. (CZEC) for the No. 3 and No. 4 units of Pakistan’s Chashma Nuclear Power Plant (C3/C4 Project) in Beijing on 24 February 2010. According to the contract, CNHXCC will be responsible for the construction of the C3/C4 Project in the general contracting phase. On 25 February 2010, CNHXCC signed the cooperation agreement with China Nuclear Industry Fifth Construction Co. Ltd (CNFC), another subsidiary of CNECC, regarding the general construction contracting for the C3/C4 Project. The signing of the general construction agreement means CNHXCC has made an important step in the general contracting of nuclear power construction, said CNHXCC in its announcement. The project is at Mianwali, Punjab, in northwestern Pakistan, which is about 1200km to Karachi, the largest city of Pakistan. The project plans to build two 340MW nuclear power units, with reference to the existing C2 Project.
