OM Maritime orders chemical tankers in China

The order for two 13,800 dwt stainless steel chemical tankers was placed by OM Maritime at Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry.

Ordering chemical tankers is in line with OM Maritime’s existing focus on chemical/product tankers. According to its website the company has owned fleet of three tankers trading in pools, and six time-chartered tankers, three of which trade in pools and three on the spot market.

The newbuildings will be classed by Bureau Veritas and fly the Singapore flag. The vessels will be capable of carrying a variety of cargoes including chemicals, acids, petroleum products and edible oils.

Established in 2007, OM Maritime is focused on ship ownership, chartering, financing and commercial services.
