Nuovinox Rebar to be used in Scottish tunnel repai

Stelax Industries Ltd and Stainless UK Ltd have shipped approximately 140 tons of Nuovinox 520 Hi-Strength reinforcing bars for repairs to the Nant Power Station tunnel for Scottish & Southern Energy PLC, one of the largest energy companies in Scotland. The contract came through Stainless UK and the contractor is Amco Donelon. Nuovinox is carbon steel that is clad with stainless steel and is priced substantially lower than solid stainless steel. Stelax Industries Ltd makes Nuovinox rebar, dowels and flat bar. In other news, Stelax announces it has received its third agreement for Nuovinox reinforcing bar (rebar) for the State of Hawaii. The rebar will be used as a non-corrosive solution in the “Building B – Replace Covered Walkway Bridge” project at the Hilo Intermediate School, Hilo, South Hilo, Hawaii. The piers for the bridge are located in ground water streambed areas that are exposed to salt-water chloride conditions. The school is part of the Hawaii School District and the job is scheduled to let in August 2001.
