NSSC to boost stainless sheet output

This March, Nippon Steel & Sumikin Stainless Steel Corp. (NSSC) will return to full production of stainless steel sheet for export to automakers in other parts of Asia for the first time since the first half of fiscal 2008. NSSC will resume full production of chrome type cold rolled stainless steel sheet, which is used in exhaust system parts such as mufflers. The product is made at the company’s Yawata and Kashima works. Beginning in April 2010, the two sites will further increase production by 10% to 20%. Output will be shipped to Japanese automakers and local steel processors in China and other East Asian nations.
