NSGT starts commercial operation in Thailand

Nippon Steel & Sumikin Galvanizing (Thailand) (NSGT), established in 2011 by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation (NSSMC) for the manufacture and sale of hot-dip galvanized and galvannealed steel sheets, started its commercial operation on October 1 as originally scheduled.

Developed at a cost of USD 118M, NSGT has a range of equipment equivalent to that of NSSMC’s latest facility in Japan. It is capable of producing 360,000 tons of high-grade, high-quality hot-dip galvanized and galvannealed steel sheets, including automotive outer panels and high-strength steels per year.

The Thai market, expected to grow further in the future, is an important market for NSSMC. Through NSGT, NSSMC intend to cater to demands from automakers in Thailand and others for high-grade automotive sheet steels.
