Ningbo port to get oil terminal

China’s Ministry of Transport has approved the phase II construction of what is expected to be the country’s largest crude oil terminal. Ningbo Port’s new oil terminal is designed to accommodate larger vessels. The Shihua Crude Oil Terminal will be built at the Port of Ningbo and has been designed to have throughput capacity of 18 million tns/yr. The terminal will also include the construction of a 490 m jetty capable of supporting vessels with a maximum deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 450,000. It is hoped that the USD 28 million construction of Shihua Phase II crude oil terminal will effectively reduce transportation costs and will accommodate the growing size of international ships.
