Nexans wins umbilical contract

Nexans has received a contract from Subsea 7 to design, engineer and manufacture 143km of static subsea electro-hydraulic control umbilicals for the Laggan-Tormore gas field development, 125km west of the Shetland Islands in the UK. The umbilicals, including a single length of 126km, will be manufactured and supplied to Subsea 7. The umbilical product will combine steel tubes for fluids, 3kV power cables and fibre optic cables. Delivery is scheduled for early 2012, and the project will be carried out at Nexans’ umbilical facility in Halden, Norway. The subsea production system offshore will consist of two production template-manifolds controlled by two Nexans static subsea electro-hydraulic umbilicals linking the Laggan and Tormore fields over a distance of 17km and then a further 126km to the Shetland shore.
