New York gas storage project

The joint venture between Pipeline Power Partners and SNC-Lavalin Corporation has signed a contract with Central New York Oil and Gas Company to provide engineering, procurement and construction services in the commissioning of a natural gas storage compression facility and associated gas processing equipment for the Stagecoach Gas Storage Project in Tioga County, New York. The project is expected to begin injection service in August 2001. This storage facility will provide up to 12 Bcf of much-needed gas storage capacity and deliverability to NE U.S. gas markets. The project will have 25,000 horsepower of gas compression equipment and complete gas processing capabilities which will be able to inject up to 250 MMcfd and withdraw up to 500 MMcfd of natural gas. The Stagecoach Project surface facilities, built by Pipeline Power Partners and SNC-Lavalin, will establish the standard for all of the additional gas storage projects that eCORP is developing throughout the United States. The high-speed electric-drive compressors are completely sealed, are environmentally friendly and minimise operating costs while maximising operating flexibility required by gas storage operations.
