Lurgi Life Science GmbH has won a contract from Natural Energy West GmbH (NEW) for the construction of a biodiesel plant to be located in Marl, Germany. The plant of NEW, an international co-operation composed of the rapeseed supplier, oil mill operator, an international trading establishment and Europe’s leading producer of biodiesel, will have an output of 100,000 tons of biodiesel as well as 12,000 tons of raw glycerin per year. Production is due to start in early March 2002. The management company of the Strategic Business Unit (SBU) Life Sciences of Lurgi AG, Frankfurt will construct the plant on a turnkey basis.
