France-based Solios Environnement has been awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract for gas treatment centers for the USD 4.8 billion Qatalum aluminum smelter at the Mesaieed industrial area in Qatar. The contract covers the supply of gas treatment centers on a turnkey basis, including engineering design, civil works, construction and commissioning. The aluminum smelter is the largest primary aluminum plant ever to be built in a single phase. Financing for the plant was agreed in August 2007.
