New cutting machine

Gee Graphite Ltd has installed a new four-headed abrasive water-jet cutting machine. It has a 4 metre x 2 metre table, capable of cutting four components simultaneously in materials up to 300mm thick. The machine is the first in the UK to include computer-controlled communications, allowing it to run automatically without operator in a “lights out operation”. Should there be a problem in operation, the machine will automatically contact a mobile phone giving a description of the fault or problem. Gasket materials from soft rubber, cork, graphite, asbestos-free jointing, PTFE, plastics through to solid metals can all be cut on this machine, using CAD/CAM programs without tooling. In addition, sub-contract work on materials from foam rubber to armour plate can be cut accurately on short lead times.
