Canada Nickel Company Inc. (Canada Nickel) has disclosed plans for the establishment of two processing facilities in the Timmins Nickel District under the banner of NetZero Metals Inc.
These endeavors are poised to signify a significant milestone in the economic advancement of the Timmins Nickel District. They will not only bolster the region’s critical minerals supply chains but also contribute substantially to the province’s electric vehicle strategy. Each facility is slated to harness Canada Nickel’s carbon storage capacity at its Crawford Nickel project, facilitating the delivery of zero-carbon nickel, stainless steel, and alloy production.
Currently, the company is in the process of selecting suitable sites for the facilities, with various locations in the region under consideration. Concurrently, it is also evaluating engineering firms to finalize the design of the facilities, with announcements regarding the chosen firms anticipated shortly. Feasibility studies are in progress and are projected to conclude by the end of the year, paving the way for the commencement of nickel processing plant operations by 2027.
