NAMTEC to take over TIG

The National Metals Technology Centre (NAMTEC) is taking on the management of the Titanium Information Group (TIG), providing technical services to the group’s worldwide membership, and administration of the group’s activities. From May 2005, NAMTEC will respond to TIG technical enquiries, maintain the TIG website, and provide on-line access to TIG data. NAMTEC will also undertake marketing activities to increase membership and seek funding opportunities to support TIG initiatives. David Peacock, TIG Chairman said: “We look forward to a successful collaboration with NAMTEC. TIG has grown steadily in membership since its launch in 1988, and the increasing number of enquiries to TIG both directly and through the website, has presented a challenging workload to TIG officers. Having access to NAMTEC’s larger team will ensure our members continue to receive a quality service and that membership can continue to grow.â€? Dr Alan Partridge, NAMTEC CEO added: “I am delighted to be taking over the Chairmanship of TIG. The outstanding success of TIG over the past 16 years is a tribute to the current management team. NAMTEC’s challenge is to continue to grow and develop the services TIG provides to its membersâ€?. David Peacock, along with other TIG officers Ray Portman and Trevor Glover, will retire from the day-to-day operation of TIG at the 100th meeting, to be held on 17 May 2005.
