Shuman Mukherjee is the new commercial director of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), effective 23 December 2010. An Economics (Hons) graduate from St. Stephens College Delhi, Mukherjee is a chartered accountant with 33 years of experience in the steel marketing field. He has held several important positions during his service with SAIL and has served as a member of the Core Group that created SAIL’s Corporate Plan 2012. Prior to this role, Mukherjee was the Regional Manager in the Northern and Western Region; he also handled SAIL’s exports as GM International Trade Division. As a representative of India, Mukherjee attended the Organization of Economic Co-operation & Development Steel Committee Conference.
