Moroccan refinery expansion

A contract covering studies and engineering work on the expansion of the Mohammedia refinery in Morocco has been awarded to Foster Wheeler by the owners of the refinery Societé Anonyme de l’industrie du Raffinage (SAMIR). The plan is to increase capacity from 125,000 to 160,000 barrels per day and to develop facilities which will include a vacuum distillation unit and a hydrocracker. On completion of this USD 500 million expansion project, which is targeted for the end of 2004, the refinery’s petrol production potential will have been increased by 50% and diesel production by 100%.
