MidAmerican site of 900mw plant

MidAmerican Energy has identified Council Bluffs (Iowa, USA) as the preferred site for
construction of a 900mw, coal-fuelled electric generating plant. Development of the USD 1.4 billion plant will proceed following environmental review, public hearings and regulatory approvals. The new plant will be developed on the current site of the company’s Council Bluffs Energy Center (CBEC), located four miles south of Council Bluffs along Interstate 29. Although still in the design stage, the unit is scheduled to come on-line in the spring of 2007. The plant will be operated by MidAmerican Energy Company but jointly owned, with the generated electricity shared by MidAmerican and other utilities.
