Mexico’s National Chamber of Iron and Steel Industry (La Cámara Nacional de la Industria del Hierro y del Acero) has announced its 2003 National Steel Award. The objective is to encourage creativity and technology in the use of steel through diverse applications, granting recognition and awards for projects carried out with different types of steel processed in Mexico. Among the conditions are the following: (1) The invitation is open to Mexicans (individuals and companies) and to foreigners with legal residency in Mexico, who through their professional activity have developed projects which have a significant contribution and that promote steel product and presentation applications. (2) The presented projects must have been made in Mexico, using at least a 90% of national steel, as the fundamental element. (3) The submitted projects should have been finished in a period of 18 months previous to this invitation’s date. The projects should offer innovations in the material’s handling, an increase in and an optimal use level, substantial costs savings, greater security for the users and improvement of its appearance. (4) The projects will be received from 15 May to 31 August 2003.
