Lurgi Oel · Gas · Chemie GmbH, a subsidiary of Lurgi AG, is to build the world’s largest methanol plant in Iran. The plant, which will be constructed at Bandar Assaluye on the Persian Gulf, will allow 5000 tons of methanol to be produced daily in a single train.

The project will be designed and engineered in partnership with Pidec, an Iranian engineering contractor. Lurgi and Pidec will provide technology, basic and detail engineering, supply of all equipment and materials as well as the supervision of construction and commissioning for the methanol complex including off-sites and utilities. The project has been scheduled for completion in 2004.
