Long life for captive linear actuator

Haydon Switch and Instrument has developed a size 17 captive linear actuator. Similar to its non-captive relative, the patent-pending high-performance engineering thermoplastics in the rotor drive nut aims to provide trouble-free, long-life operation for use in high-precision applications. A stainless-steel splined shaft coupled to a stainless-steel leadscrew allows for precise motion control with resolutions ranging from 0.00012 to 0.00192in/step. A 0.500in stroke is standard and can easily be customised up to 2.5in. The unique feature of a built-in stop prevents overtravel, lockup or damages. Typical applications for this motor include valve control, x-y tables, medical equipment, semiconductor handling and telecommunications equipment. It can be used wherever precise positioning, rapid motion and long life are needed.
In addition to the standard configurations, HSI can customise this motor to meet specific application needs.
