LNG fuelling station for Santa Monica

Chart Industries Inc. has announced that its NexGen Fueling Division (NexGen) has received an equipment order for a new large-scale liquid natural gas (LNG) dispensing facility being built for Santa Monica Big Blue Bus. The prime contractor for the project is Mallcraft Inc., located in Altameda, California. Roy Neva, Transit Construction Manager for Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, stated, “Two large 30,000-gallon horizontal LNG storage tanks will provide LNG to two bus service lanes and a satellite liquid compressed natural gas (LCNG) station that will fuel the City’s compressed natural gas (CNG) fleet vehicles. The LNG project is designed to provide fuel for 220 buses. Santa Monica currently has 37 LNG buses on order. The LCNG station will have the capacity to serve both public and private CNG fleets in the Santa Monica area.” The LNG buses are being manufactured for Santa Monica by North American Bus Industries. Each bus features onboard LNG fuelling tanks built at Chart’s ISO 9001 liquid cylinder plant in Canton, Georgia. The two tanks are located above the engine in the upper rear of the bus and are fuelled through a receptacle located on the side of the bus.
