Linde Gas Division expands in China

Linde Gas Xiamen Ltd., the Chinese Group company of the Gas Division of Linde AG (Wiesbaden, Germany) is adding a third air separation unit to its complex in Xiamen, Fujian province, China. Linde Gas Xiamen Ltd has signed a long-term contract to supply chemicals company Xiang Lu Petrochemicals with oxygen and nitrogen. Linde is investing EUR 30 million in the project, which should be operational by mid-2004. Xiang Lu Petrochemicals is owned by the Taiwanese chemical company Tuntex Petrochemicals and Taiwan’s leading food company, Uni President Enterprises. Xiang Lu Petrochemicals needs the oxygen to increase its production of PTA, a primary product for the PET used in plastic bottle manufacture and other areas. Linde’s new air separation plant in Xiamen has the capacity to produce 11,500 Nm3 oxygen per hour and the additional capacity to supply 200 tons of liquid gases per day. The plant’s main components will be designed by Linde Process Co. Ltd, a Chinese engineering company in Hangzhou, and manufactured at Linde AG’s plant in Dalian.
