Liberty House names new executives

Liberty House Group has launched its new Speciality Steels business and appointed some of the most prominent international metals industry figures to lead the operation.

The move comes in anticipation of completion of Liberty’s agreed GBP 100M acquisition of Tata Steel UK Speciality Steels. A definitive agreement was signed between Liberty and Tata Steel in February, 2017 and the acquisition is expected to be completed in the near future, subject to the necessary regulatory approvals.

The management board designate of Liberty Speciality Steels will include Jon Bolton as chief executive, Peter Hogg as COO, and Chris Kirby as CFO.

Jon Bolton is currently chief executive of Liberty’s plates and UK steel development, and chair of the employers’ body UK Steel, Peter Hogg is moving from his role as director of long products maker, British Steel, while Chris Kirby joins the team following a number of years as a senior consultant to major international metals, mining and energy firms.

The three men will play a key role in finalising the transfer of the Tata Steel UK’s Speciality business to Liberty and in implementing a new plan to take the business forward.
