Aker Kvaerner has announced that its global boiler, evaporator and environmental systems business will in future operate under the name of Kvaerner Power. The new name better describes its business operations of providing technology and services to the chemical pulping industry as well as the power generation sector. These changes will mean new identities being established in Sweden, Finland and the USA. The change became effective in Finland at the beginning of March, with the establishment of Kvaerner Power Oy, which covers the operations in Tampere, Lapua and Vantaa. The changes in Sweden and the USA will be completed during the second quarter of this year. Aker Kvaerner’s fiberline business, which has an office in Karhula, Finland, will continue to operate under the name Kvaerner Pulping Oy. Kvaerner Power is a pioneer in fluidised bed combustion, with approximately 200 boilers in operation.
