Kvaerner in offshore Nigeria contract

Kvaerner Oilfield Products has been awarded a USD 28 million contract from ABB Offshore Systems Inc. in Houston to manufacture and supply electro-hydraulic steel tube umbilicals and gas lift risers for the Bonga Project offshore Nigeria. Rthe Bonga project is operated by SNEPCO (Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company) on behalf of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company. It is the first deep water development offshore Nigeria where the equipment will be installed in water depths of up to 1200 metres. The scope of supply includes project management, engineering and the manufacture of 54,200 metres of dynamic and static configuration production control umbilicals, and 17,100 metres of gas lift risers. The umbilicals and electrical cables will connect both the production and water injection trees with the 300,000 dead weight ton FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading Vessel). The umbilicals and the gas lift riser will be manufactured at Kvaerner’s facility in Moss, Norway, with a scheduled delivery of February 2003.
