KPA Unicon boiler plant for South African steel mill

KPA Unicon will deliver a 50t/h steam boiler plant to the Vanderbijlpark Works of ArcelorMittal South Africa. This is a turnkey delivery including all process equipment, transportation to South Africa, all installation works, commissioning and training of the operational personnel. KPA Unicon arranged the financing of the project.

The plant will be fuelled with blast-furnace and coke oven gas that are by-products from the iron-making process. Natural gas can also be used as fuel. The steam produced will be directed to the customer’s existing turbine that generates electricity for internal consumption. “This solution represents the advanced power boiler solutions developed by KPA Unicon for efficient and sustainable electricity production. This project is part of our growth plan regarding power solutions and we are also looking forward to expand our market coverage “, says Sales Director Teemu Koskela from KPA Unicon.

KPA Unicon’s modular boiler plant solution will increase the utilisation of the plants by-products and reduction of electricity purchased. The environment-friendly Unicon ST50 boiler plant consists of two 25t/h boilers equipped with advanced combustion solutions. This enables high efficiency and low emissions. The operation of the plant is fully automated. The Unicon boiler plants are based on a modularised structure, which allows high level of prefabrication, fast installation at the site and premium quality.
