Kocks to supply RSB to Hyundai Steel’s new mill

Hyundai Steel Company, part of the Hyundai Group, is planning to build a new combined wire rod and bar mill in the city of Dangjin in South Chungcheong Province, South Korea. KOCKS will supply a Reducing and Sizing Block (RSB) as the finishing mill for the bar line. The production of this mill will mainly be directed to supply special bar quality in engineered steel grades to Hyundai Motor Company.
 
The 5-stand heavy-duty RSB adjustable under load (AUL) with a nominal roll diameter of 370mm features the 3-roll design. It is equipped with a closed-loop Size Control System (SCS) and a high-speed remote control of passes and guides of the 3-roll stands in the mill line, which allows the implementation of stands AUL. After completion of the new 800,000 t/a combined wire rod and bar mill the RSB will be able to finish roll the total production of straight and coiled bar in SBQ-quality in all sizes within the dimensional range from 16.0mm to 100.0mm diameter.
The start-up of HYUNDAI’s new combined wire rod and bar mill is scheduled for the second half of 2015.
