Kenaf pulp mill in China

Visonper International Company (USA) Ltd plans to invest USD 125 million to grow kenaf for paper production in Yunnan Province, SW China. According an agreement signed between Visonper and the government of Yuxi City, the project will cost USD 137 million and is aimed at growing 33,000 hectares of kenaf and building a production line with an annual capacity of 500,000 tons of paper pulp in the Chinese city. Kenaf is a tropical plant of the mallow family, grown for its fibre, which can be used to make pulp, paper and paperboard products. As a major substitute of wood pulp, kenaf pulp is presently mainly used in producing newsprint.
