Jacobs has seconded John Maddison as Programme Director for the Industrial Solutions Hub (ISH), a new initiative which aims to tap the economic potential of companies supplying the Sellafield nuclear site in the U.K.
ISH will help businesses based in West Cumbria to grow and develop new markets in the U.K. and overseas.
ISH is supporting several pathfinder projects involving the use of robotics, automation, artificial intelligence and digitization to create safer and lower-cost systems for dismantling nuclear facilities, waste handling and asset management.
As Director of Engineering Development, Maddison headed Jacobs’ growing business providing solutions to complex engineering challenges across the nuclear industry. To build on this success, last year Jacobs opened a new Engineering and Technology Centre on the Beckermet Industrial Estate, which now serves the nearby Sellafield nuclear site and companies in its supply chain.
