J&L Specialty Steel Inc. is expanding services through the Internet with steeluser.com, a proprietary site developed by Arcelor, J&L’s parent company. The steeluser.com site will enable J&L’s registered customers to buy prime stainless coils and access a number of other services online. Philippe Baudon, Vice President, Commercial for J&L, remarked: “We are starting with simple functions, such as stock purchases, order status and electronic quality documents. Progressively, we will roll out new functions, but we feel we already have a great offer.” J&L confirmed that the last few months have been spent fine-tuning the site to the specifics of the US stainless market, and that all start-up functions are now fully operational.
