J&L Specialty Steel Inc. will increase prices on all its stainless steel products. Discounts will be reduced by 1%, which will effect a price increase of approximately 3%. J&L said the increase is warranted by the significant jump in energy and raw material costs not covered by an alloy surcharge. As an example, the company noted that carbon scrap had risen 20% during the past 60 days. Existing raw material surcharge rules will remain in effect. In addition, J&L will apply a 5% fuel surcharge on freight.
