Jindal Stainless, India’s major stainless-steel manufacturer, has announced a strategic partnership with CJ Darcl Logistics Limited to develop lightweight and sustainable stainless steel containers. These containers, made from high-strength JT grade stainless steel, are designed to transport goods such as polymers, batteries, and rubber, offering significant advantages in terms of weight reduction, fuel efficiency, and operational costs.
Each container uses 2.2 metric tonnes of JT stainless steel, replacing traditional carbon steel in the sidewalls, end walls, and roof. This shift reduces the weight of each container by approximately 500 kilograms, increasing cargo capacity and fuel efficiency. The containers also benefit from enhanced safety and a longer lifespan due to the superior impact and fire resistance of JT grade stainless steel.
CJ Darcl, a pioneer in multimodal logistics, will deploy these containers across its operations, benefiting clients in various sectors by optimizing routes, reducing transit times, and lowering emissions. This collaboration aligns with India’s goal to achieve carbon neutrality by 2070, promoting green logistics practices within the industry.
