Jacobs wins oil sands contract

The Canadian subsidiary of Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. has won a contract from Suncor Energy to provide engineering and procurement services for the continued development of Suncor Energy’s Firebag in situ oil sands Project. The project is located near Fort McMurray, Alberta, NE of Suncor’s existing oil sands plant. Jacobs’s work developing the engineering design specification (EDS) for Stage 2 of the Firebag programme begins in September 2002 and continues through the execution phase of the project. Jacobs’ Calgary office is performing the work. The Firebag programme uses steam-assisted gravity drainage technology (SAGD) to reach oil-laden bitumen deposits deep below the surface.
