Jacobs joins Nuclear AMRC

Jacobs has joined the Nuclear Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (Nuclear AMRC), based at the University of Sheffield in the U.K., to drive innovation in advanced nuclear technologies.

As a tier-one member of the Nuclear AMRC, Jacobs will collaborate on manufacturing and material engineering projects for new build, decommissioning, equipment qualification and cyber.

Jacobs and the Nuclear AMRC are members of the UKSMR consortium led by Rolls-Royce, and both also work with other developers of new reactor types. Jacobs is also leading research into materials, manufacturing and component testing systems for new reactors, funded by the U.K. government and the European Union.

To support the equipment qualification process, Jacobs will use its advanced materials testing facilities to analyze the behavior of material samples from the Nuclear AMRC under conditions similar to those experienced within reactor systems.

With USD 14bn in revenue and a talent force of approximately 55,000, Jacobs provides a full spectrum of professional services including consulting, technical, scientific and project delivery for the government and private sector.
