ISSF releases 2016 melt shop production report

The International Stainless Steel Forum (ISSF) has released figures for the full year 2016 showing that stainless steel melt shop production increased by 10.2% year–on–year to 45.8 million metric tons.

In Western Europe/Africa, the stainless steel shop production was 7, 705 MMT, which was 2.5% increase from 2015. In Central/Eastern Europe, the production was 247 million metric tons, which was a 4.6% downslide as compared to 2015. In the Americas, the production improved by 6.7% against 2015, and totalled 2, 931 MMT.  In Asia (w/o China), the production was 9,957 MMT, which was a clear 5.2% increase from 2015. In China, alone the production was 24, 938 MMT, which was 15.7% from the year 2015.
